Advisory Board

To support the growth of IR industry in Hong Kong by providing strategic advice and support to HKIRA, the following professionals were appointed as the Advisory Board.

Louis Cheng

Dr. Cheng is the Dr. S H Ho Professor of Banking and Finance. He is also the Director of the Research Centre for ESG as well as the Research Institute for Business at the Hang Seng University of Hong Kong. He is a member of the Hospital Governing Committee of Ruttonjee & Tang Shiu Kin Hospitals (April 2023 – March 2024). He was a member of the Investment Committee of the Hospital Authority Provident Fund Scheme (2016-2022) in which he led the effort in promoting ESG integration for an investment portfolio exceeding USD 8 billion. Dr. Cheng actively engages in ESG and green finance research. In addition to publishing on Green Bond, he received various research donation and grants related to ESG and financial services for over USD 1 million. He is also a coauthor of a book chapter titled “Fintech Unicorns” in The Palgrave Handbook of Fintech and Blockchain, 2021.

Dr. Cheng is a member of the Business Studies Assessment Panel for Competitive Research Funding Schemes for the Local Self-financing Degree Sector under the Research Grants Council (RGC). He also served as a member of the Business Studies Panel (Joint Research Schemes) for the RGC, Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal Panel, and University Council and Trustee Board of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University Pension Fund. He is currently a member of the Examination Board of The Institute of Financial Planners of Hong Kong (IFPHK). Dr. Cheng has over 100 articles and books published including the Journal of Finance. Dr. Cheng is an author of Fundamentals of Financial Planning, and the lead author of Financial Planning and Wealth Management: An International Perspective, both by McGrawHill. Dr. Cheng served as a project consultant for various organizations including the United Nations, Bank of China, Investor Education Centre (IEC), SFC, MPFA, Value Partners, Agricultural Bank of China, BCT, Fubon Bank, HKEx, Charles Schwab, Tai Fook Securities, and HKSI.

Cheah Cheng Hye

Dato' Seri CHEAH Cheng Hye is Co-Chairman and Co-Chief Investment Officer of Value Partners Group. He has more than 30 years of investment experience, and is considered one of the leading practitioners of value-investing in Asia and beyond. Value Partners and he personally have received a total of more than 220 professional awards and prizes since the firm's inception, including a Lifetime Achievement Award from Asia Asset Management.

Dato' Seri CHEAH has been in charge of Value Partners since he co-founded the firm in February 1993. He led Value Partners to a successful listing on the Main Board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2007. The firm became the first asset management company listed in Hong Kong.

Dato' Seri CHEAH currently serves as an Independent Non-executive Director, Chairman of Investment Committee and member of Listing Operation Governance Committee of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited, a member of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology Business School Advisory Council, Convenor of Advisory Council for the Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (Hong Kong and Macau), a member of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council Belt and Road & Greater Bay Area Committee, a Fellow of the Hong Kong Management Association, and a member of the Hong Kong Academy of Finance.

Prior to starting Value Partners, Dato' Seri CHEAH worked at Morgan Grenfell Group in Hong Kong, where, in 1989, he founded the Company's HK/China equities research department as the Head of Research. Prior to this, he was a financial journalist with the Asian Wall Street.

Osbert Kho

George Lam

Dr. Lam has held a number of senior positions in banking and finance and the innovation and technology sector in Hong Kong and the Asia Pacific region. He is Chair of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP) Sustainable Business Network (ESBN) and the immediate past Chairman of Cyberport, Hong Kong's digital technology flagship and FinTech hub. Dr. Lam is a member of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government Chief Executive's Policy Unit Expert Group, the Green Technology and Finance Development Committee, and the Governance Committee of the Hong Kong Growth. He is also a member of the Belt and Road and Greater Bay Area Committee of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and the Court of the City University of Hong Kong, President of Hong Kong-ASEAN Economic Cooperation Foundation, Chairman of the Innovation and Technology Committee of the Belt and Road General Chamber of Commerce, Vice Chairman of Pacific Basin Economic Council, and a Board member and Chairman of the Permanent Commission on Economic and Financial Issues of the World Union of Small and Medium Enterprises.

Edward Lau

Mr. Fu Keung (Edward) Lau has over 20 years of experience in corporate management, investment banking, consulting and accounting. Edward is the Chief Financial Officer of New World Development Co. Ltd. (HKSE:17) leading Group’s various functions including Finance, Accounting, Treasury, Tax, Mergers & Acquisitions and Investor Relations. Before joining New World, Mr. Lau was the Chief Financial Officer of a Chinese property developer with focus on Greater Bay Area. He held various senior positions in Equity Capital markets and Global Credit Trading with global investment banks prior to his CFO career. In recognition of his outstanding achievements, Mr. Lau was awarded “Best CFO” in All-Asia Executive Team Leaders survey organized by Institutional Investor (II) for four consecutive years, “CFO of the Year - Real Estate” by the Asset, “Best CFO – Hong Kong SAR” by FinanceAsia, “Best IR by CFO” by HKIRA and Asia’s Best CFO by Corporate Governance Asia.

Mr. Lau has rich experience in innovative sustainable financing. In 2021, NWD became the first real estate developer globally to issue a USD Sustainability Linked Bonds. In 2022, NWD became the first corporate in the world to issue a USD-denominated social and green dual tranche offering in the public bond markets.

Mr. Lau has served the public in various capacities including as a member of inaugural Advisory Committee of the Accounting and Financial Reporting Council (AFRC), Greater Bay Area Working Group of Mainland Opportunities Committee of Financial Services Development Council (FSDC), Advisory Board of Hong Kong Investor Relation Association, Fundraising and Social Enterprise Committee of The Neighborhood Advice-Action Council, Finance Committee of Scout Association of Hong Kong, HKI Regional Scout Foundation Fund, Finance and Strategy Committee of Hong Kong Football Association.

Mr. Lau received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance (with Distinction) and Master of Accounting (with Distinction) from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor in 2001 and 2002 respectively. He is a U.S. (Delaware) Certified Public Accountant Certificate holder.

Guy Look

Dr. Guy Look retired as CFO and Executive Director from Sa Sa international Holdings Ltd in August 2022 where he served for over 20 years. He served as Independent Non-Executive Director for a number of companies including Café de Coral and was a member of the CNBC Global CFO Council. He served as Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong Retails Management Association as well as Chairman of its New Retail Sub-Committee.

He won many awards and held top rankings by different media and professional bodies including IR magazine, Institutional Investor Magazine, Corporate Governance Asia Magazine, HK Investors Relations Association, and was awarded Best Executive in Hong Kong by Asiamoney in 2012.

KS Ng

Executive Director & CFO
Link Real Estate Investment Trust

Mr. Ng Kok Siong has been an Executive Director of Link Asset Management Limited since February 2020. He has been the Chief Financial Officer and a member of the Finance and Investment Committee of Link since May 2018. He is also one of the responsible officers of Link for the purposes of the SFO, a director of Link Properties Limited, The Link Finance Limited and a number of subsidiaries of Link.

Mr. Ng has extensive experience in the real estate sector in Asia covering a spectrum of strategic management roles in finance, investment, corporate development and business technology. Since joining CapitaLand Group in 2005, Mr. Ng held various senior executive positions, including Chief Corporate Development Officer of CapitaLand Limited (a company listed on the Singapore Exchange), Chief Financial Officer of CapitaMalls Asia Limited (currently known as CapitaLand Mall Asia Limited), and Group Chief Digital Officer of CapitaLand Limited. He was also a director and audit committee member of two real estate investment trusts in Singapore and Malaysia, namely CapitaLand Retail China Trust Management Limited (the manager of CapitaLand Retail China Trust listed on the Singapore Exchange) and CapitaLand Malaysia Mall REIT Management Sdn. Bhd. (the manager of CapitaLand Malaysia Mall Trust listed on Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad).

Prior to joining CapitaLand Group, Mr. Ng has worked in ExxonMobil and Royal Dutch Shell across Asia and Europe in various roles including planning and appraisal, information systems, finance and investment management.

Mr. Ng holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy (Honours) from Nanyang Technological University of Singapore and attended the Tuck Executive Program at Dartmouth College.

Andrew Weir

Regional Senior Partner, Hong Kong
KPMG

Andrew is the Regional Senior Partner of KPMG in Hong Kong (SAR) and Vice Chairman of KPMG China. He has over 30 years of experience servicing listed companies, public bodies, investment funds and MNCs in Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland, Asia and internationally. He has a keen interest in corporate governance, board leadership and business in the community, and leads the quarterly KPMG Independent Non-Executive Directors Forum.

Andrew is a Fellow of the HKICPA, and is a Fellow of the ICAEW as well as the Institute of Directors. He is a regular speaker at forums, universities and business schools on governance and business issues.

Andrew has served in a number of senior national, global and regional roles with KPMG. He is currently the Global Chairman of Asset Management and also of Real Estate. Andrew also sits on the Global Client Advisory Board and is the Chair of the Audit Management Board. Andrew chairs KPMG’s UK-China corridor, leading efforts to establish greater linkages between Chinese, UK and International business and investment partners. Andrew previously was the Head of Capital Markets, KPMG China, and ASPAC Head of Infrastructure, Government and Healthcare and ASPAC Head of Asset Management.

Andrew was appointed by the HKSAR Government as Deputy Chairman of the Financial Services Development Council (FSDC) and chairs its Governance Committee. Andrew was previously appointed by the HKSAR Government as a council member of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC). He sits on the Greater Bay Belt and Road Committee and chairs the Global Belt and Road Forum and other trade committees. He is Chairman of the Listing Review Committee and previously chaired the Listing Committee of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Andrew is Chairman of Pacific Basin Economic Council and Plan International. He is a Director of Asia Pacific Real Estate Association and Asian Association for Investors in Non-Listed Real Estate Vehicles. He was previously Chairman of the British Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and of Community Business Leadership Council as well as a member of the International Business Council.

Andrew was made an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List 2017 for his contribution to trade and investment links between Hong Kong, China and the UK and was awarded Director of the Year by the Institute of Directors for his services to the NGO sector. He is a Justice of the Peace. He has a Masters degree in Economic Development and an Honours degree in Economics.

Kelvin Wong

Dr Wong is the Chairman of the Accounting and Financial Reporting Council.

He is an Executive Director and a Deputy Managing Director of COSCO SHIPPING Ports Limited. He is also an Independent Non-executive Director of two listed companies in Hong Kong.

He was a Non-executive Director of Securities and Futures Commission (2012-2018), the Chairman of Investor and Financial Education Council (2017-2018), the Chairman of The Hong Kong Institute of Directors (2009-2014, a member of Standing Committee on Company Law Reform (2010-2016), a member of Main Board and GEM Listing Committees of The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited (2007-2013) and a member of Operations Review Committee of Independent Commission Against Corruption (2017-2022).

Dr Wong holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Andrews University in Michigan, USA, and a Doctor of Business Administration degree from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
