Oliver's practice spans all aspects of general commercial litigation, including shareholder and banking disputes, insolvency, and breaches of directors’ and trustees' duties. As a Solicitor-Advocate, Oliver holds higher rights of audience.

Prior to joining Ogier in 2009, Oliver Payne trained and worked as a Solicitor in Herbert Smith LLP’s Litigation and Arbitration Division in London. During his six and a half years at Herbert Smith, Oliver worked in Hong Kong and undertook secondments to UBS and Credit Suisse.

He obtained his Bachelor of Laws (with Honours) from the University of Bristol in 2001 and completed the Legal Practice Course at the Oxford Institute of Legal Practice in 2002.

Oliver is a member of the Cayman Islands Law Society, the Law Society of England and Wales, the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Restructuring and Insolvency Specialists Association INSOL International and IWIRC.
